How long have you been training with Sportsfit?

Since a very wet and chilly November in 2014. My gym membership had just come to an end and I didn't fancy renewing it. Sportsfit popped up on my Facebook news feed and I thought it looked right up my street as it was aimed at building strength, speed and agility.

How many sessions do you aim for a week?

I aim for three sessions per week. There is such a mix so I like to fit in the aerobic and conditioning stuff with some strength. More recently I added in Pilates which I thought I would hate (my hamstrings are like steel rods), but I keep going back for more.

What is your favourite session?

I love the 'strength' session in the current SportsFit programme. It is different every week, always with new challenges. Marnie encourages us to 'go heavy' which is something I would never normally do and I am pushed to the limit every session.

Any fitness/health sports goals you have achieved recently?

Over the past 2 years at SportsFit I have seen my fitness levels improve which has really helped on the Touch pitch especially when it comes to explosive power and speed.

If you could recommend Sportsfit to a friend what would you say in 1 sentence or 2?

I would absolutely recommend Sportsfit to a friend especially if they are looking to fit a seriously effective work-out into their busy life with a great bunch of people and an awesome coach.

What do you like about SportsFit?

I always look forward to going to SportsFit. During each session, Marnie and each participant encourages and motivates each other, which creates a unified and positive atmosphere. I have also seen an improvement each week.

SportsFit sets bespoke intensive workouts, aimed at participants in differing sports or people who wish to improve their overall physical condition. Marnie, and other SportsFit coaches, tailor each workout to the individual, which allows you to track your progress.

For instance, I got injured while playing touch rugby. When I had recovered from the injury, I returned to Sportsfit and Marnie altered each session for me in light of my recent injury.

As it's such a friendly environment, I encouraged my mum to try a Sportsfit session called 'Boxing4Fitness'. My mum enjoyed the session so much she now goes week in week out and has noticed an improvement in her fitness. She is now encouraging her friends to join her.

What's your favourite class and why?

I don't have a favourite, as I have tried each training programme that's available with SportsFit and they have all been brilliant.

I like SportsFit because it pushes you to your limits and has shown me that when I don't think I can go any further, I can whip out a few more reps or go faster. The group atmosphere is amazing and everyone really pushes each other along, everyone congratulates each other and helps each other to become better athletes (high fives are the best)!

Marnie is so approachable that if there is something you don't quite understand you don't feel intimidated to ask her and I love the fact that before pushing you to increase weights, Marnie wants to make 100% sure that your form is correct. SportsFit has shown me how to do things that I would never have dreamed of attempting by myself in a gym. Marnie is incredibly knowledgeable and is showing me how to be stronger, fitter and also more agile all of which are translating into my netball game on court.

I would never push myself as hard as Marnie does in a session but she always knows when I have more in me even when I don't think I do. I have found I am much stronger than I thought I was (although I have still to defeat the al-mighty pull up) and I have seen changes in my agility for netball. I have found myself being stronger against pushy and high contact opposition and in turn, specifically to netball, this has helped me to increase the strength of my hold as a shooter.

I find I am now able to stand my ground and hold a defender where I want them. In myself, well, I recently bought the smallest size in jeans that I have bought in 5 years! If that's not motivation then I don’t know what is!

When did you join Sportsfit and why?

I joined in Spring 2015. I got sick of overcrowded gym classes and wanted a different fitness challenge that would help my touch fitness.

What changes in particular have you seen in yourself / your fitness?

My overall cardio fitness has improved dramatically along with my strength and I’m feeling a lot more toned. Another improvement I’ve seen is my recovery. I’m able to recover a lot more quickly in the high intensity sessions but my muscles also recover between sessions making me more effective when I go back to train a day or two days later.

What do you like about Sportsfit?

I like the variety in the sessions, the full body workout and the relevant fitness training to my sport. I also like how much we (fellow members) push each other in the sessions but it’s the knowledge and experience of the trainers that makes the difference I think.

What’s your favourite class and why?

This is a hard one to answer. It changes every programme. From this programme, I think it’s Metabolic Conditioning because it really pushed me to my limits and I saw lots of improvements in my times and the increase in weights being used.
